About me As
a true-born American, I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. One and half
million people live in this Midwestern city, which is located about 200
miles south-west of Chicago. It is a typical American city.
Even
as a child, I had great interest in other countries and foreign
languages. When I was at primary school, I joined a programme for pen
friends. Quickly I formed contract to people from all over the world.
This childhood hobby led to my choice of my career, which I love to
carry out - the joy of language and communication.
At high school I learnt German. During this
time, my first travel to Germany was made. A year later as an exchange student, I journeyed
back for ten months. In the Westphalian
town of Warendorf, I grew fond of this country and its people. After
high school, I studied German at Indiana University.
The
first thoughts of teaching English came to me while I was working
alongside emmigrants in the USA. To successfully live and work you must
have good language skills. So I began to teach students English at a
local vocational school.
My
various journeys to Germany awoke a strong urge to want to live and
teach here. At Cambridge University I received my European
qualification as language teacher for adults. After accomplishing this,
I returned to Warendorf.
In
the Westphalian small town and surroundings, businesses and private
people use my competence of languages. In in-house courses, through
translations and as an instructor, it is always a joy to be able to
make use of my abilities and knowledge.
